frankfurt

We spent the weekend in Frankfurt, and apart from two quick school trips in grade 6 and 12, this was my first time doing some sight-seeing there. We were lucky with the weather, it's sunny and warm right now (though it gets terribly cold after sundown, and it's already dark before 9pm), and I'd love to keep this weather until we go on vacation end of next week.

We met an old friend of H, a guy he's known for more than 30 years, who runs an obviously very successful cafe not far from the main shopping area, we strolled through the Chinese garden (and I forgot to take pictures :-(), we went to the main sightseeing points (the cathedral, the Römer, Hauptwache etc). And we visited the exhibition in the Museum Judengasse, the museum that was set up after remains of the old Jewish quarter were excavated in the late 80ies. Lots of information that one sort of knew (about Jewish persecution centuries before the Nazi era), presented in a nice-enough way (not too much, not too dry). And English translations, too! Something still not to be taken for granted in German museums.
